                        The commencement of the Reunion was Wednesday, September 21. However, there were quite a few of our crew that started checking in beginning with Sunday, September 18, and the fun began. Wednesday there were approximately 60 couples that checked in. Wednesday was a free day and the Hospitality Room got very deep in sea water with all the sea stories ha ha ha. Thursday was the tour to Niagara Falls and there was 118 people who went on the tour. The Hospitality Room was fairly empty that day until everyone got back from the tour. Friday was the tour to our sister ship the USS LITTLE ROCK CLG-4 there was 197 people who went on the tour, and the Hospitality Room was closed until we got back from the tour around 1 PM. When we got back some went to their rooms to get ready for the Reunion Banquet and some gathered in the Hospitality Room again. The Photographer started taking couples photos for the Reunion Memory Book around 4:30, we have a book every year. The dinner started around 7 PM with the Color Guard parading the colors, then the Substitute Chaplain, Jim Pickering gave the prayer and the Chaplain and John Johovic then performed the two (02) bell ceremony for those who have passed away. The drawing for the GALVESTON clocks was held, and the tickets were drawn by young McKenzie Holcomb, and the winner of the 1st clock was John and Linda Parker and the 2nd clock winner was Mike and Ellen Berger. The drawing for the 50/50 was next and once again McKenzie drew the ticket and the winner was Ron and Fran Strah and their half of the 50/50 was $1580.00 Congratulations to the winners. After the dinner the Hospitality Room was reopened and the party began. Saturday morning at 10 AM the Shipmates and Gals had their business meetings. At the shipmates and gals meetings nomination and election for all officers was held. for the shipmates the results are as follows: Pres, Stan Shock; VPres, John Parker; Sec/Trea, Soupy Campbell; Asst, Bob Bakos; Historian, Art Tilley; Asst, Charlie Fritz and Chaplain, Bill Norquist. For the Gals, Pres, Donna Shock; VPres, Linda "Sweetthang" Hawkins, Sec/Treas, Jane Bakos and Chaplain, Fran Norquist. Next the Shipmates nominated and voted for 2013 reunion site (middle of the states). St Louis, MO was the winner, with Branson, MO 2nd, San Antonio, TX 3rd and Corpus Christi last. On to St Louis in 2013. Following the meetings the Gals had their annual auction. The Gals took $3,055.00 in from the auction, and they are giving the shipmates a $2500 donation of the money they took in from the auction. As always, A VERY LARGE THANK YOU to our wonderful Gals for their support to the Shipmates.

                        GALVESTON JACKETS: I have received requests for USS GALVESTON CLG-3 Jackets again, so I am taking names and so far the following have requested a jacket: COOPER-XL; DOTTS-XL; FOLSOM-2XL; HAMER-XL; HOUSLEY-L; KRANIS-2XL; MADRID; K. MICHALSKI-XL; VOYTEN-XL and WOOTEN-L. Of course the more jackets we order the price will go down. As you can see above we have 10 people so far. I believe the last time we ordered the price was either $50 or $55, and that is what I try to keep the price around if possible. I am checking with our dealer to start getting a price. Now, are there any more of you who wish to order please contact me ASAP. Remember whatever the price of the jacket, I still have to add shipping $6.00. Any questions? If you call the toll free phone # 866-398-2655 and I don’t answer then you can call my cell phone # 609-784-6722.
                        ALONG THE SAME LINES, USS GALVESTON SHOULDER ROCKERS: I have had   shipmates asking about getting USS GALVESTON shoulder rockers again. In checking   with our dealer he informs me that if I order 50 rockers the price to have them   made would be $7.00 each. In other words, if I order 50 rockers the price   (before shipping) would be over $300.00. So before I order these rockers and   spend that much money of the association funds I would have to have a pretty   good guarantee that we would be able to get rid of the rockers. If not, the   association would not get the money back in the account. So in view of this I   would like to hear from anyone that would order USS GALVESTON shoulder rockers   so I can get some idea of how many we would be able to sell right away. The   following personnel have ordered so far: BELL-2;
                        BOLING-2; FISHER-2; FOLSOM-2 +; JORDAN-2; KRANIS-2; MICHAELS-1; PICKLE-2; STANNARD-4 and WARNER-1, makes a total of 20. We had a shipmate Bill Kranis who was on the web and found a dealer who will make the rockers for $.70 a piece. Long story short, we have ordered 100 rockers. The price for the rocker plus mailing comes to $1.50 each rocker. Any questions???
                        PRESIDENTS' CORNER: We can now close the book on our 26th Reunion in Buffalo, New York. We had some sad things happen along the way (Fred Marks took ill and had to be hospitalized, plus we had a large number of last minute cancellations due to various illness'), but overall by all accounts the reunion was a great success. The hotel staff went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and did whatever we asked of them. They were exceptional in every way. The tours went like clockwork, and the banquet dinner was outstanding as well. I want to thank again Joan Jones, and Theresa Swiridow (John Johovics' Mom) for handling the wreath at the ceremony onboard the USS LITTLE ROCK CLG-4. They did a fine job and we are all proud to give them a hearty well done. I find it difficult to express how it makes us feel to gather with friends, family, and shipmates at these reunions, but now that one is over we are ready to go again. Having said that I would urge you to give thought and prayers to those who could not make it due to illness, and we all hope they will make the next one. One final thing, wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in 2012. Pres, Stan Shock
                        SECRETARY/TREASURER: This will be the last Newsletter for the year 2011, the next Newsletter will be January 2012. I would like to wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY, HEALTHY and PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR IN 2012, it was wonderful seeing everyone who was able to make the reunion in Buffalo. I hope we have another great turnout like we did in 2011 at the reunion in 2012 in Colorado Springs, CO. Everyone take care, keep well and God Bless.

                    ALONG THE SAME LINES, USS GALVESTON SHOULDER ROCKERS: I have had   shipmates asking about getting USS GALVESTON shoulder rockers again. In checking   with our dealer he informs me that if I order 50 rockers the price to have them   made would be $7.00 each. In other words, if I order 50 rockers the price   (before shipping) would be over $300.00. So before I order these rockers and   spend that much money of the association funds I would have to have a pretty   good guarantee that we would be able to get rid of the rockers. If not, the   association would not get the money back in the account. So in view of this I   would like to hear from anyone that would order USS GALVESTON shoulder rockers   so I can get some idea of how many we would be able to sell right away. The   following personnel have ordered so far: BELL-2;

                    ALONG THE SAME LINES, USS GALVESTON SHOULDER ROCKERS: I have had   shipmates asking about getting USS GALVESTON shoulder rockers again. In checking   with our dealer he informs me that if I order 50 rockers the price to have them   made would be $7.00 each. In other words, if I order 50 rockers the price   (before shipping) would be over $300.00. So before I order these rockers and   spend that much money of the association funds I would have to have a pretty   good guarantee that we would be able to get rid of the rockers. If not, the   association would not get the money back in the account. So in view of this I   would like to hear from anyone that would order USS GALVESTON shoulder rockers   so I can get some idea of how many we would be able to sell right away. The   following personnel have ordered so far: BELL-2;
